Apple Crumble

Ingredients:

 

- 250g of white flour
- 100g of brown sugar
- 125g of flora
- 4 large cooking apples
- white sugar to taste
- 700ml of buttermilk 
- Beaten egg to glaze

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step One:

Rub flour brown sugar and flora together to make the crumble.

 

Step Two:

Peel and slice the cooking apples into a large cooking dish and sprinking with white sugar to desired sweetness.

 

Step Three:

Cover with crumble and place in a warm oven for 40 minutes until the apples are cooked and the crumble is golden

 

 

Apple Tart

Ingredients:

 

- 450g of plain flour
- 275g of margarine
- approx 5tbsp. of cold water
- 3 large cooking apples
- white sugar to taste

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step One:

Rub the flour and margarine together, bind with the cold water to make pastry.

 

Step Two:

Knead on a cooking mat. Cut enough pastry for bottom of the tart and roll thinly.

 

Step Three:

Place pastry on an oven proof plate.

 

Step Four:

Peel the apples and slice onto pastry sprinkle with sugar to taste.

 

Step Five:

Roll out pastry for the top of the tart. Moisen the edge of the bottom pastry with water.

 

Step Six:

Place the pastry on top, press the edges with a fork. Prick the top of the tart. Place in a hot oven for 35-40 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dropped Scones

Ingredients:

 

- 150g of plain flour
- A pinch of salt
- 2 level teaspoons of baking powder
- 25g of caster sugar
- 150mls of milk

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step One:

Sieve the flour salt and baking powder into a mixting bowl and add the sugar.

 

Step Two:

Make a well in the centre and drop in the egg.

 

Step Three:

Add milk gradually and beat well with a wooden spoon.

 

Step Four:

Grease a hot pan lightly with butter. Pour a small quanity of mixture from a jug to make round cakes.

 

Step Five:

When the drop scones are puffed and bubble appear on the surface turn over and brown the other side.

 

Step Six:

Serve at once covered in maple syrup with an ice-cream of your choice.
